Solitude / Peace of Mind (转)

We hear about it and talk about it, but do we ever have enough of it? Do we ever have any at all?

In the mornings I sit quietly and drink my coffee before work. It's nice ... but it's not solitude.
Sometimes I'll sit in my back yard on summer nights and sip a beer while watching a fire I've made. That's real nice ... but it's not solitude.

I think solitude is when the silence whispers to your soul ... telling you nothing matters. When you know in your heart that the most important moment is now .... but there's nothing that needs getting done. You think about the mysteries of the universe, it's greater powers and the beer in your hand.

I feel an overwhelming feeling of peace when I'm sitting around a campfire by myself or with people I care about, by a lake or river, and I take time to listen to all the sounds we normally attribute to silence.
Have you ever sat with friends around a fire and after awhile everyone becomes quiet ... like they're miles away? That's pure peace.
Unless someone farts ... then everyone laughs.

I guess you can tell I'm already looking forward to going up north to French River again. [Wink]

Take the time people .... [Smile]
