In support of the Sport Fishing Institute of British Columbia (SFIBC) and ALL individuals concerned about the future of the recreational halibut fishery in BC (anglers, tackle manufacturers, distributors, retailers and sales agencies, including their employees), it is important that the Department of Fisheries & Oceans Minister Gail Shea hear from all of us ASAP.
 
The recreational fishing industry on British Columbia's coast stands to lose millions of dollars if the limits on halibut quotas are reduced and the 2011 season is shortened. Please refer to the background information links provided below.

1. Write a personal letter to DFO Minister Gail Shea

Fisheries and Oceans Canada could put an early end to recreational fishing season

The BC Sportfishing Coalition will be holding a town hall meeting in Ucluelet on Thursday evening to discuss the future of the recreational halibut fishery and voice concerns over the Department of Fishes and Oceans (DFO) policy and the season's potential closure.
