Nice haul Robert

and great pic.....we'd like to hear about your story too

of course won't mind knowing your way-points as well

Seriously...

....is that in the 3rd pic a Clam's "The Hub"?

Just wondering where one can get a good deal on it...

16-lb total weight is too attractive for a walker like me

...any info will be great

Great catches

Looks like all of you guys had a wonderful time. Seeing all the ice fishing posts lately makes me want to try out.

shmartangler, give out some tips on equipements, lines and lures to use. Most important are the way points

Here here Jown

Reel+line... use your senko set up...some would suggest braided w/ fluoro leader for deeper waters for better hook-set, but 10lb test Stren Magnathin Mono works just fine for me over the yrs, and it has connected some double digit lakers for me too....don't use mini ice fishing reels they are meant for line memory & poor drag quality..and tends to seize up at low temp...lighter lines are not recommended...lots of line rubbing against the hole while your fighting w/ bigger fish..

Rod... 30~36"...medium~medium heavy action....after you have landed enough fish you can fine tune to what suits you best...no big names in brand necessary..good thing these rods are cheap

Lures...Jigging spoons like Williams J60 ice jig, Jigging Rapala, Swedish Pimple, 3/8oz Kasmaster, Badd Boyz+crappie tube/Meeg's/Hump Back Creeper/Lil Foxee Jigging Minnow, 3~4"Tube & jig(targetting mid-water lakers) ...they all produce

Live Bait set-up...dead rod+split shot+single hook+pin head minnow...Tip-up + Spreader + pin head minnow

Locations...If you goto the Simcoe related boards you'll find out where most ppl are targetting these species...they are anywhere from 30~40' to 100'+...Whitefish are mostly bottom feeders while Lakers cruise the entire water column...if your fishing mobile on snow m/c GPS info are vital to success...if your a walker then just follow the pack as a start..

Accessories...a pair of long-nose pliers for unhooking, a gaff (I use two, a short one for fish which you can bring with head just out of the hole which is desirable, a longer one, 40", for handling fish get stuck under ice...as the season goes along the ice may get as thick as 20"+ Im talking about L.Simcoe), a garbage bag for your catch..

It's a Basecamp

It's bigger and heavier than a Hub.

Thanks 黑老大

Wow, thanks for this in depth details on ice fishing. This is more than I need to start.

I'll have to pick a warmer day to start and hope that I can share some of my catches soon.
