Hi everyone, look at what I got here. This is almost the Ontario record it weight at 2lb 10oz(2lb.67) and it is a little more than 17inch long. The Ontario record is 2lb 13oz (2lb.87) and caught in Wabaushene Georgian Bay in 1992. When I weight my fish on the water I thought my 2lb 10oz is more than 2lb.87 but when I spoke to Mark from the OFAH he then convert the weight of my fish and told me my fish weights at 2lb.67...It was very close. For bait most locals and anglers use a jig tip with dead or live minnows. We use lipless crankbait with baitcaster and lots were caught on jerkbaits too. It is so fun to fight them with a baitcaster.
This is one of the best thing about this sport, chasing after those monster fish to get your name on the books...lol Here is some pics, enjoy. I know some of you will recognize the background.

Wow those are footballs!
Great catch Peter
The second pic is classic...we brought home carps that way from the market during Chinese New Year, with the fish still mouthing
....bring back memories...
Background? what background

Silvers are my favourite species....my killer lure is a 3/8 oz Kasmaster, same lure I used for Whities.....I often used the same lure to target these two species on the same day out of two bodies of water....except that I still use ice rod for the latter
WOW!!!
These are great shots, never seen such BIG Silver Bass....thanks for sharing

You're so close to beat the record. Good job!
Thanks Guys!
The bugs were very healthy and fat..lol We saw somebody's boat left soon as the bugs came out..lol But you know what people, soon as it get real dark the the bugs goes away because of the coldness.
Kastmaster, it make sense why you love that bait. It must get down to the bottom nice and fast. Do you cast it out and slow retrieve it or do you vertical jig it? Sorry if I put you on the spot but you don't have to answere if you don't want to..lol (I'am just trying to pick your brain..)

HOLY BATMAN!!!
WOW...that is just A W E S O M E...
I have never seen one that big (well except the salt water cousin)...That's "Crazy Fishing"
I gotta get out more often. Thanks for reporting.
Jigging while fishing for
Jigging while fishing for Whities, definitely....personally, the way you jig and the zone where you present the lure come on top of the kind of lure you use....Williams tends to flutter too much especially when dropping lure into deep waters...retrieving tangled lure is no fun and inefficient....yeah, engineers are full of it
While fishing for Silvers, in slow to still waters, I just cast out to beyond the fish and retrieve slowing.....fishing the rapids is so much fun, cast the lure downstream and let it go until it hits bottom, retrieve a bit to lift the lure a coupla feet above the bottom, hold the lure there the current will work it for you....every once in awhile work the lure with the rod......repeat this cycle until you find the fish....match lure size with depth & current....replace the treble with a single can speed up unhooking but you'll lose the odd one
Enjoy, and save some for us....I won't mind you top off the record though
Lao Da, you are so great! I
Lao Da, you are so great! I was thinking to ask about how to work with this lure but you gave the answer ahead. Thanks!
