Arrived at 7:00am. To my dismay, the water level was very low, dropped 2 feet than a month ago. Low level water means bad bass fishing. After trying 45 minutes to one hour to locate where bass were, I gave up.

Cloudy, windy day with chopping water is certainly good for pike fishing. That lake has many hammerhandles. Switched to fish pikes. From 8:30 to 1:30 before heavy rain hit, I got more than 50 pikes, largest one about 3.5 pounds and smallest one about one pound. Finally I lost count.

Few pikes were got on the weedline and weedbed. Most pikes were got in a flat loaded with some stumps where pikes were cruising to chase small fish.

Also got my this year’s first black crappie (quite big and I did not weigh since I do not fish crappie). She hit my pike lure and became my first crappie for this year.
