我的个人观点： GPS 和 FishFinder 不宜放在一起。 portable GPS 还可以用在其他地方。开车，野营，hiking 等等。

关于FishFinder看水底的情况。这里主要是彩色的和黑白之分。彩色的比较容易判定是石头还是烂泥。黑白也是可以区分，听说需要经验。 至于是不是水草等，一看画面便应该知道。因为有水草！

彩色还有好处是阳光强烈时都可以看得很清楚。

fishfinder还有两种探测头。一个是成 60度放射波，一个是成30度放射波。60度的探测浅水，30度探测深水。

如果只是钓钓 bass, walleye 等，60度的便足够了。 如果需要trolling salmon 等，那么两种探测头都具备的则是必须的。

至于fishfinder 是用来看水底的结构还是找鱼的？我个人经验是both。是我们的眼睛吧！

dwqdaniel, obviously you've got the answer already in the other thread.....but if by any chance the FFinder is connected to a cranking (starting) battery, it would be better off to turn the FFinder off before starting to avoid any damages .....don't always happen...have had bad experience :)

famanda, yes you can see the fish detected by the transducer in the forms of "Fish Symbol I.D." or "Fish Arches" (true sonar, some call em HOOKs).....see other tutorials in the link below as well...

Fishfinder can 'see' fishes, but most time what you 'see' are just sunfishes. Further, you ought to know that transducer of a fishfinder is shooting high frenqency rays through a 3-D space, but bounced-back information is displayed in a 2-D space most of time.

My experience and feeling? A MUST as a piece of fishman's toy.

For most 1st fishfinder buyers, I'd recommend about $300 range.  Since I consider myself not as enthusiastic as Bass in investments in fishing equipments, so I bought a slight cheaper one. $290 + $50 (battery).
