We do have a kids program this year and it is on Saturday, July 9, 2011 at Too Good Pond in Unionville - Highway 7 and Main Street from 10 in the morning to around 2 in the afternoon. There is also another one on Sunday, July 10, 2011 at Centre Island. Free fishing rods will be give out to children ages 14 and under.
The event at Toogood pond in Unionville (Main Street & Carlton Road) is on Saturday, July 9, 2011 from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. Free fishing rods will be given to the first 100 children between the ages of 6 to 14.
The event at Centre Island will be on Sunday, July 10, 2011 from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. Free fishing rods will be given out to the first 250 children between the ages 6 - 14.
You do not have to be a member of OCAA to come to these events.
What is a better way of introducing a kid to fishing by giving he/she a fishing rod?
Yesterday, on Central Island. My daughter caught the first two fishes of her life.
Although they are just gobies. Still, she is very happy. She jump up and mushroom out her arms, and says she wants to catch a much bigger one like that.
I want to hold her rod for her, but she doesn't let me to do that...! what a kid!
