You are right. I trolled with dipsy diver at 95 FOW and I think I ran the diver at about 65-70 feet deep. I like fishing Lake Simcoe, there are plenty of laker trout and whitefish to target.

Well, if your catch is purely LT, your probably presenting your lure off bottom...like trolling....jigging on or right off the bottom your return ratio will be 10:1 (WF:LT), varies with location...LT's are high rise in the water column this time of year when the water is still cool...you might even run into them by just flat-lining heavier spoons or deep-diving crankbaits without using any diving device..
Hi Smartangler: What you have said here just makes sense. I was out there for whitefish. But because I did not know a good location for jigging, I trolled all the way to a place where I thought could be a good spot. I got those 2 lakers before I arrived at the destination.
I am enjoying to be with this board. It reminds me of a few year back when I first started fishing ( I mean Canada type of fishing). I started to cast spoons from the river bank and over 1K viewers were laughing at me on this board. I had loads of questions for you guys before I bought my 9.9 Johnson 14' Lund. I tasted the flavor of jiggging last spring and downriggers and divers last summer which made me the best year of fishing so far. At the end of Last fall, encouraged by Bass, I acquired an exact same type of toy as he has. He is due to help me to get familiar with the thing. I am expecting a less successful season 2010, for most of the time, once your equipment upgraded, your catching downgraded.

You'll have to sacrifice some of your fishing time to look after your new ride for sure....but dont forget with the bigger and more powerful set up your fishing trips could be more tactical, you can cover more waters, handle rough weather better....all these will add up to rewarding outings..
I suppose your using the ramps at Barrie or some marina around Oro line 6...the north shore is a better LT ground...if you launch out of Innisfil Beach Park (Innisfil 8th line) and go east between the two islands (Snake & Fox), anywhere between these two and Georgina Island will be your WF ground...you'll see the pack ...good luck and show us some WF pic in your next post
