Official Weigh-in Results
Third place team caught their fish using 6 inch blue Yamamoto Senkos with a slow retrieve.
Second place team caught 2 largemouth bass and 3 smallmouth bass. The fish were hooked on 6 inch natural brown Senkos in a wacky rig setup with a "do nothing" retrieve. Within 1-1/2 hours after blastoff, the team had 2 fish in their livewell. They fished in a sheltered area when it got very windy. Between 2:00 and 3:00pm, they reported white cap waves. As result, the team returned for weigh-in 30 minutes early.
First place team reported that the fish were in an active bite mood in the morning. They caught their fish with a variety of lures which included jerkbaits, 5 inch purple Senkos, jig and pig and a soft plastic creature bait.
The weather stats shown below were the actual weather conditions that occurred during the tournament. Small craft wind warnings occur when winds reach 20 km/h. Between the 8:30 am to 4:30 pm tournament hours, the lowest recorded wind was SW 20 km/h at 12:00 pm and the highest recorded wind was NW 39 km/h at 4:00 pm. Basically, all the teams were fishing in small craft wind warnings all day. It appears the windy conditions had a major impact on most of the team's ability to bring in a bag of 5 fish. Out of 13 teams, only 3 teams managed to weigh in the maximum of 5 fish, 3 teams bought in 4 fish, 2 teams weighed in 3 fish, 1 team had 2 fish for weigh-in, 3 teams had 1 lonely fish to weigh and 1 team zeroed out.
The water level on Dalrymple is higher than normal for this time of the year due to heavy rain fall this year. This was reported on a Kawartha Lake fishing web site on July 11th. Cottage owners built their docks based on the lower water levels in May and June. One angler reported that cottage dock decks were touching the water surface. During the high winds, waves were washing over the cottage docks. White cap waves over 2 feet were reported during the tournament.
