Fishing with Fishcrazy

REPORT By: Laker272

Thanks to the idea posted by fishfood a bunch of us guys decided to give the Bog a break and test our skills on the deep water of Lake Simcoe. I was looking forward to this trip as I have not really fished it for anything but perch in the shallower water. We planned to meet at Location "X" in the wee hours of Saturday morning.

Left the house at 4:30 am and drove to Oshawa to pick up Dmac. We were now on our way. As we approached the Allen Expressway I had a feeling that I left the dog outside in the extreme cold. I decided to turn around to make sure all was good. Got home and the dog was past out on the living room floor. All was good. So on the road again.

Bombed down the 401 a mach 10 to make up that precious time we had lost. We arrived at our location just before 8am. I hoped the events prior were'nt any indication of how the rest of the day would go. It certainly wasn't.

Located Tempy, fishfood, and Nathan out on the ice and left the area they were fishing to hook up with Fishcrazy, Buckshot_B, and Tom, who were set up way to the outside of the crowd. What a fantastic decission that was.

It wasn't long before Tom was into his first fish. A beauty whitie, congrats. This was the start of something special. I don't think that 5 minutes went by without someone on a fish. We had double, triple, and even quadriple headers. The action was furious between noon and 3pm. Everyone was catching fish, a beatiful thing.

Tom was probably the angler of the day with so many fish landed I lost count. WTG Tom.
It wouldn't be right unless I told you guys why we were getting into these fish. It was through the selfless action of Fishcrazy that he went around to every member that was out there and gave them a personal hands on lesson on hooking onto these beauties. This guy is good folks, very good. it was after these lessons that guys were able to use these tactics by themselves and hook into many more fish. A huge thanks goes out to Fishcrazy from me and everyone else i'm sure.

This was a day that I will never forget. I will look back on this day and remember it with the best of memories, action, and good friends. Thank you guys.
I am asking all others in attendence to post some thoughts also.
Cheers and here are some photos that I snapped.

So I'm posting pictures from a awesome day on the hardwater. The group that got together. Fishcrazy and Brother Tom and friend, Tempy, Nathan B, Laker 272, Dmac and Sportsman. Everybody caught a pile of fish. Lake trout were plenty and the lake herring were huge. Afew whitefish were iced and a few misc. fish were lost!

My first few lake trout thanks to Fishcrazy's expertise!

Dmac caught an excellent whitefish to go with his limit of Lake trout!

And Fishcrazy's brother Tom who lost his rod and reel down the hole to a lake trout got the whole outfit back again when I hooked the laker and landed him out of my hole awhile later! Honest ! Notice to the left screen, another fish being fought - and that was how it went allllllll afternoon. Unbeleivable day on Simcoe! Thanks alot guys!

I Was so impressed to watch Fishcrazy go from angler to angler to pass on technique and every time hooked a fish out of the guys spot! At first I thought this was fun to watch but then I started seeing the results and I couldn't beleive time after time and another lake trout was being finessed into taking the bait! As fishcrazy said "PLAYING WITH THEIR EMOTIONS!"

Unreal to see it done and I learned a bunch - a big thanks to Tom and Fishcrazy -If I had not seen it for myself... I would have thought it was a fish story I had such a great time! (That was my first time too. Several of the guys already said that. Unreal. I landed 5 lakers and lost my one - line snap.)

I think I would have been pulling my rod for nothing if it wasnt for the two brothers who provided the right terminal tackle and the pinheads. I only had salties and Tom said no no no, here ..... like this...! Well Tom's luck was with him all day while he caught fish after fish, then when his back was turned he lost his entire rig down the hole. He cursed and blamed himself for not paying closer attention to his rod and reel. He told me that was his second set that he had lost down the hole that way. Oh man. Well luck would have it ( and no fish story) In 110 feet of water, about 30 minutes or so later... I hook his fish and his hook, line, rod and reel are still attached to the laketrout I just pulled in. Tom winds up fists full of line and eventually pulls up his rod and reel - unreal - his hands are wet and painfully red but he dries his reel and eventually fishes with it later on. That day was laughs after laughs and guys from farther over walked right up behind us to drill holes only a few meters away. What they got for their efforts wasn't to catch their own fish...but to get fish given to them from our group. We were happy and they were happy. And the torontonian pisan and the American visitor ... they even got the secret touch from Fishcrazy who showed and caught them fish too. Unreal as I watched, laughed and applauded!
If it wasn't for Dmac shoving some of his sandwich my way, I would not have taken time out to eat anything. It was non stop.

To sum it up....I dreamed of a day like that. Thanks a million guys for many reasons. Really.

Thanks Fishcrazy! I got alot from today! I hope we can all do it again!
